Final Paper Overview

Workplace consulting report

You will work throughout the term on an individual report, which should not exceed 10 pages ( Times New Roman, double-spaced, 11 or 12-point type). The goal of this project is to analyze and apply OB concepts and theories in a real organization. To complete this project, you will use concepts and theories from the course to identify, analyze, and develop a plan for resolving a key problem that an organization is facing. Ideally, you will select an organization where you have worked (a former co-op employer is a great option), though this is not required (we will discuss alternative options further in class). You and I will agree on the chosen company and situation/issue early in the term. You will interview at least two members )2 is ideal but at least 1) in different organizational roles to gain a relatively comprehensive understanding of the organization and a specific OB issue or problem. The deliverable will be an in-depth application of the most relevant concepts from class, to (a) diagnose problem(s) and (b) recommend actions that could improve the outcomes of the organization and the particular issue in question.

Company Overview

The goal is to get you started on the paper.

Though you will discuss 1 main issue, you will identify OB concepts throughout the class.

What is the problem? What are you trying to solve?

This can be 2 pages- but no more than 3

Interviews

Interview at least 1 person from the company that can provide answers to your questions.

The interview should have at least 10-15 comprehensive OB questions from the material you have learned to apply to the paper (this should backup your problem). The interviewee should be someone not in your group.

If you can find an additional interview whether personal or ‘online’ identifying the OB problem that would be ideal but not necessary.

Interview will be added to paper in an Exhibit

Body

You will provide concrete solutions to the problem you are trying to solve with the material you have learned from the text/articles/class discussion/videos.

Focus on individuals, group, and structure (ch1) the summary of OB

The chapters we covered (right now to Ch 8 but will cover more, will update this later on)

Conclusion

What will happen if we do indeed incorporate the solution you have proposed? (Again backup with statistics from what you have read, i.e. If company X trains managers on how to be effective leaders, Y will be the result)
