Description
The Context
Richard has been operating his company for the past 5 years and feels confident to venture into an expansion. He knows that this is a major move for his organization and wants to ensure that the company is very successful at managing this change. In order for this to be successfully put in place, Richard follows a logical sequence of steps to ensure the objectives of the change are fully accomplished.
The Task
a) Identify any two (2) areas where change is important for the expansion plan. Explain the current situation and justify why the change is necessary.
b) Identify and critically discuss what resistance Richard could face and recommend steps that he could take to ensure a smooth transition for the change? Apply a suitable model that would influence the change process.
c) External and internal forces have a significant influence on organizational change. Analyse what factors Richard would have to cope with?
d) Describe the recommendation and implementation plan. You should use the web, media, books and journals, library and other resources to write the assignment in a Management Report format. Where applicable and relevant, you are also encouraged to conduct fieldwork and interviews to collect relevant information for your report.
Instructions for the Management Report:
The report (not exceeding 4000 words) should incorporate the following:
Executive Summary (5%)
200-300 words, not to be included in the word count.
Introduction (10%)
You should introduce the background of the organisation that Richard works in and the selected business he is in.
Elaborate on change initiatives to be investigated and providing the background as to why it was introduced (its objectives), the nature or types of change involved.
Main Body (65%)
You should identify suitable theories, frameworks or models to use in the report and be organized under appropriate sub-headings on the 4 major tasks listed as follows:
a) In introducing the change process, explain what is change, and then describe what the company is facing now and why the change is needed in the two areas
b) Identify and critically discuss what resistance Richard could face and recommend steps that he could take to ensure a smooth transition for the change? Apply a suitable model that would influence the change process.
c) External and internal forces have a significant influence on organizational change. Analyse what are the factors that would have to cope with?
d) Discuss the recommendation and implementation plan.
Conclusion (10%) Encapsulate your key analysis and provide a succinct conclusion. Citations and References (10%) Harvard-style reference system with in-text and end text referencing list. Have a minimum of 12 references.
This assignment requires you to demonstrate the skills learned in this module and display critical thinking ability. Produce clear and specific reasoning and argument to justify your answer.
