Design of k-5 School Playground

Write a report show your ability to find, develop, organize, and communicate information to a professional audience.
Fictional Scenario
Design of a school playground for children in the age group of kindergarten to class 5. Your client is your home city.
I (your home city) want to design a new playground for a school.  It’s location doesn’t matter at this point: it will be flat and safe. Don’t worry about size, either, or cost.  I need very basic information.

I want to know what is possible.  I like safety, adventure, imagination, creativity, and fun.  I think cooperation is important for children, but so is exploring their own physical strengths and boundaries.  The children’s parents or guardians are important too, and they will need somewhere to sit, but you don’t need to worry about that.  I’m hiring another firm for the benches.

Your report won’t be able to cover everything, but I expect you to advise me about the following:

Two surfaces with comments on the strengths and weaknesses of each. (use unitary surfacing material and engineered wood fiber)
Four types of playground equipment – something to climb, something that swings, something that requires balance, something that encourages upper body strength.
One of the four pieces of equipment must be universally accessible.
For one of the pieces of playground equipment, go into detail regarding how it works, why it is fun, its safety and risk features.
Which is better (I want to see evidence), a hand washing station or a sanitizing foam dispenser?

Your imagination and memories of childhood; discussion with children you know or are related to.  Do not design equipment (choose from images from playgrounds or from catalogues etc.) but as you select, your own sense of fun, adventure, and responsibility will guide you.
