Section 1 (Possible 60 marks) Design Report Proposal Assignment A
Brief :
The music recording company ‘All that Jazz’, are expanding their business to Camden Town – see figure 2. Your client is delighted with your mid-term Design Report Assignment with the exhibition stand titled ‘Creative Skills of the Future’, that now want to commission you to Design a Report Proposal for their new ‘All that Jazz Camden’ building. The plot, size for this design, is 12 metres wide, by 10 metres long, set between two student accommodations. The design is to have three floors and to include elements of and design principles- see Section 2 for specifics. In addition, they want to raise awareness by promoting climate change and environmental action. For this design they want you to, also, include alternative solutions whilst exploring sustainable materials, and to consider the ‘Urban Heat Island Effect’ with a Passive Design system.
The company employs 50 part-time staff, 60 freelancers, 20 of whom are disabled, an extended client list, and VIPs. The building can easily be connected to the internet, power and a water supply. They are happy for you to use any type of sustainable materials. Your design must include windows and doors. The building is to be situated in Camden Town, is open seven days a week and twenty-four hours a day.
They do not wantpeople lifts, a canteen/cafe and security cameras in the design, front or back parking as where they are situated does not allow parking.
They would, however, an entrance for vehicles to drop off equipment; they would like an equipment lift, they would like a set of stairs and ramp(s) connecting all floors, multimedia interactive software, a unisex toilet within the design and a roof garden to entertain their clients.
