Program Overview
The CUSP Co-Curriculum will enhance student pharmacist learning and practice readiness. Cocurriculum has been defined as activities, programs, and experiences that complement didactic
and experiential learning. Students will apply knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom to
experiences in the community. These events allow students to prepare for their future careers,
practice patient-care, collaborate with interprofessional peers, and demonstrate leadership and
innovation.
The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) acknowledges the role and value of
learning outside of the curriculum in developing and refining knowledge, skills, and attitudes
necessary to be practice-ready pharmacists. To be an effective member of a healthcare team,
students need to develop and enhance self-awareness, communication, leadership, and
collaboration skills along with professional comportment.
To augment student pharmacist practice-readiness, the CUSP Co-Curriculum will provide students
with a strategic and intentional program which will personalize learning to best support student
personal and professional development. Students will complete activities across the following four
domains:
Students will be enrolled in a 0-unit Co-Curricular course in T3, T6, and T8. Students may complete
requirements at their own pace throughout the academic year but will be asked to submit a
reflection on their experience, as well as their updated CV and ePortfolio, in T3, T6, and T8.
Student Success Advisors will review assignments and provide feedback.
