What steps do you plan to take to transition your paper to a presentation?
Some steps that I plan to take to transition my paper to presentation would be to take important parts from each section written and elaborate on those parts. It is very easy to sound professional and put together on paper, but it is much easier in my opinion to elaborate verbally as there are many things that cannot be written on paper about STD’s and the different topics written on my paper. I believe there are some key points in my paper that will be more strongly emphasized in my presentation as I will be able to explain more thoroughly with my voice rather than on a voiceless electronic paper.
Which key ideas will you focus on?
As mentioned in the first question I will be emphasizing the more important parts of each section from the paper. Some key ideas would be how society perceives STD’s, sex, people who have STD’s, and their opinions on all these things. I will also touch upon the government and how much and how little they are doing to help stop the spread of STD’s. I will also talk about what we as a society can do to stop the numbers of STDs from increasing every year as well as why it is important to do so.
What questions do you have about using Panopto for your presentation?
Is there anyway of seeing yourself while recording? I am so painfully awkward during presentations in general. Is there a possibility of being able to see myself while recording to make sure I am not doing anything odd and see if I am in frame?
What recording device will you use?
I will be using my laptop as it is the only device I have tried Panopto on.
Share some tips and tricks you have learned for delivering a powerful presentation.
In the past I have learned to have the presentation memorized and to have some notecards in case I stumble and help avoid missing any valuable information. Also, to make sure the presentation slides are not too packed full of information as I will be speaking and I have already written a research paper.
How confident are you presenting your paper via video? Explain.
I am fairly confident in presenting my paper via video mainly because I will be alone with my laptop recording rather than in front of the entire class in person presenting.
What are your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to giving video presentations?
Some strengths would be that I do not have as many nerves while presenting. It is only myself and my screen so that takes away a lot of anxiety. Another strength would be that I can do trial runs whereas in person I only get one opportunity. Some weaknesses would be that I cannot see if I am engaging my audience and not have immediate feedback from my professor. I also do not have a professional setting as my presentation will more than likely be done either in my room on my bed or on my dining room table.
How will you maximize your strengths?
I will maximize my strengths because I am more in control of the environment around me and I am comfortable in my own home. Therefore, I believe and hope that my presentation will go smoothly.
