PRESENTATION
An opinion piece is a formal piece of writing where you clearly state your opinion on a topic
and present and explore various viewpoints supported by research, reasons and/or examples.
Your opinion piece must be presented as an academic opinion essay and include an
introduction/discussion/conclusion. The body should have structured paragraphs that are
neither too short nor too long. Paragraphs contain several sentences related to a specific
aspect of the topic under discussion. Be careful not to break up your paragraphs.
• Do not include headings, numbered or bulleted text in your essay.
• Do not use footnotes.
All referencing, including in-text, must comply with APA 6th Edition referencing
requirements. Include a reference list at the end of the essay.
REQUIREMENTS
Submit your piece in Word Format making sure it is no longer than 2500 words plus a
reference list on the final page.
Please use:
• 12 point Times New Roman or Arial 11 point font
• 1.5 line spacing.
• Text justified left.
• One line separating paragraphs
Proof-read your work so that it is free of spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes. Use
language that is appropriate for an academic essay including only using respectful and
appropriate terminology.
