Description
Which two distinctive neighborhoods or districts will you investigate?
My proposal below:
The two distinctive neighborhoods I would like to research are Chaptico, a neighborhood in the city of Mechanicsville, Maryland, and Leonardtown, a neighborhood near Chaptico, Maryland.
Chaptico began in 1663, after the visit of Charles Calvert. Later on, it got destroyed in 1813 during the British war. After the war, this neighborhood was rebuilt by the pro-southern. Who put up some of the historical buildings that are found in the neighborhood today. There are multiple artifacts and other historical buildings that are found in the Chaptico neighborhood. They include Deep Falls, Bachelor’s hope, Wicomico Shores, and Christ Episcopal Church (King et al. 76). I may have passed by the Deep Falls sign unknowingly driving to the grocery store.
On the other hand, Leonardtown neighborhood is a fifteen-minute drive away from Chaptico neighborhood. Leonardtown has many historical buildings such as the Old Jail Museum, which once held runaway slaves. I’m looking forward to seeing this building because whenever my husband and I travel, we always stop at an African American historic location.

Please answer the following questions about the two neighborhoods I’ve chosen.
Introduction: Which two distinctive neighborhoods are you going to analyze for this project. What research methods will be used for this investigation?
Research: What is the general history of these two neighborhoods and what are their primary functions today? What are the broad demographics of these neighborhoods and how have they altered over the years? What are one or two noticeable historical artifacts in each locality, connecting the past to the present, that reveal change and/or continuity over time?
Fieldwork: What recognizable symbols (both human and environmental) define these two areas, and how might they influence the way people interact with each other and their surroundings? What are some perceived background factors among local inhabitants and visitors (such as culture, income level, age, education, etc.) in each district, and how might they affect social interactions?
Analysis: What are three sociological theories covered during the second half of the semester that can be applied to your neighborhood investigations? Explain each theory as it pertains to your fieldwork observations and background research findings. (use the bank of terms and theories provided below .)
Conclusion: After completing fieldwork observations, background research, and analysis, what is a brief summary of your overall discoveries (what significant information did you learn)?
The paper is organized by putting the five OUTLINE headings in bold fonts (i.e., “Introduction,” “Analysis,” “Research,” etc.), thereby creating five sections for the essay. Each of the five essay sections should comprise your responses to the relevant sociological guiding questions that are provided in the Outline.
Please use the 10 terms below throughout the paper.
Terms need to be in bold font so they stand out from the rest of the text.
Two terms need to be associated with a particular sociological/urban thinker(s) and their significance should be included while you describe the term’s connotation.
Do not copy definitions from any sources. The idea here is to paraphrase definitions in original wording to reveal genuine comprehension. How would you explain these terms to someone who was unfamiliar with them?
10 Terms:
use significance (Gary Moore;)
sprawl
gentrification
environmental
cognition (Gary Moore;)
social enforcement
deviance (formal/informal;)
imageability (Kevin Lynch;)

Do not copy any work but original work but summarized entirely in your own words. No plagiarism at all.
Please have in-text citation.
