Personal Statement college

It is with much pleasure that I submit my application for a Master’s Degree in Applied Psychology at the University of Southern California. I am a marketing professional with over 10 years of experience strategizing and implementing marketing campaigns that fuel the marketplace presence. The opportunity to obtain this degree will not only provide me with the additional knowledge needed to become a stronger marketer but also it will also enable me to be an asset to all future marketers and organizations.

As a non-traditional marketer , I recognize the importance of using human sciences to understand  customer engagement challenges. I’ve became an advocate for aligning marketing decision with consumer behavior through continuously studying and practicing viewing customers through the lenses of cultural trends, lifestyle factors ,  and attitudes. Understanding what a consumer wants before they can tell you is a vital aspect of marketing as purchase decision making takes place in the sub conscious mind and people typically default to behaviors rather than rational conscious decision. This program will provide me with the formal education to better understand methodologies and how to apply them in marketing settings.

The opportunities that the University of Southern California’s Online Master of Science in Applied Psychology program presented are very appealing. I have spent countless hours conducting research on various programs that will strategically put me in a place of professional and industry growth and when I came across your program I knew it had been written for me. Several psychology or sociology  programs are geared toward individuals who are looking to remain focused in the career path specifically related to psychology rather than the opportunity to leverage the skills gain from this program in a separate field of study.  As the visionary I am, I recognize that roles of behavioral scientist, marketing psychologist and cultural marketer are all on the rise; however, I have also noticed that no clear pathway to these careers exist and with acceptance into your program I hope to change that. Not only does the curriculum you all offer interest me as a working mother, the flexibility of this program is also appealing.

I’ve often heard that at USC one of the first words you are guaranteed to hear is “Fight On”. For me, “Fight On” has been the motto for my life so if you’re looking to admit candidates who can continue the legacy, I’m the master’s candidate for you. Obtaining this degree will allow me to continue to be a leading example for my son and also my continue to break generation barriers of not only becoming the first generation college graduate but also becoming  the first generation master degree recipient. As a student an one day graduate, I will fight on not only within my industry but I make a vow today that I will fight on to continue the incredible legacy that your university continues to display in the world as we know it.
