Use of Music as an Environmental Intervention and Quality of Care for older adults/elderly

Background:
During this pandemic I worked alongside the New York State Department of Health, testing the elderly for Covid-19. I walked into a multitude of locations, and I was able to see the environmental differences of each site, as we all walked onto the floor. I can clearly remember how happy and excited everyone was when the health care providers orchestrated a musical session for all the residents in the dining area. This was used to lower everyone’s anxiety concerning the mandatory testing that was put into place. Music is a powerful tool which can be used to uplift moods, combat depression, and lower stress levels.
