Topic Objective: Analyze the components of the entrepreneurial consumer decision-making process.
Introduction: Almost all organizations and companies rely upon databases for recording, updating, and tracking transactions every business day. Although small business owners and managers generally are not required to have an in-depth knowledge of database technology, knowledge about the differences of a database application as compared to a database management system (DBMS) and how they function should be understood.
In this Post Project, should you choose to complete it, you will research and develop a slide presentation about the differences of a database application as compared to a database management system (DBMS) in addition to writing a 750-word paper that explains what you found.
7 slide Power Point Presentation on the differences of a database application as compared to a database management system (DBMS)
The post project for this lesson is required to be a minimum of 750 words in addition to the Power Point Presentation that clearly demonstrate your understanding of the activity. Post project essays should have a clear introduction, thesis statement and conclusion, written in APA format (Purdue OWL). A minimum of three sources, at least two from the lesson, must be cited in-text and in the Reference list.
Both the 7 slide Presentation and the Essay must be submitted as a single document. With the presentation embedded in the document. If you are unsure on how to do this, follow this tutorial: Link or Embed a PowerPoint slide in a Word document. If you are unable to embed the presentation add your slides after the references page.
Perform the following steps:
Step 1: Research
Review the Lesson Readings as well as external resources from the Internet, books, journals, etc. to analyze:
What is a database application?
What is a database management system (DBMS)?
How does a database differ from a database management system (DBMS)?
How the three primary functions of a database management system (DBMS)
Step 2: Create PowerPoint Slide Presentation (7 slides):
Slide 1: Create a Title Slide – database application and database management systems (DBMS)
Slide 2: Define a database application
Slide 3: Present the data elements of a database application and provide examples of each element
Slide 4: Define a database management system (DBMS)
Slide 5: Defines the three primary functions of a DBMS
Slide 6: Present how a database and a database management system (DBMS) differ
Slide 7: PowerPoint Reference page
Create an APA PowerPoint Reference slide that includes the complete APA references for the Lesson readings and external research sources used to create your slides.
Note: For all PowerPoints Slides (with the exception of Title and Reference slides):
Include 3-4 key points on each slide
When using words from any external sources including Lesson readings be sure to cite on the content slide (author last name, date, pg. #)
Step 3: Use artwork, photos or other images.
Convey your talking points with images that add “power” to your presentation or to illustrate your points.
Step 4: Summarize your findings.
Summarize the findings of your research in 750-word paper, multi-paragraph and a 7-slide presentation to be turned in for grading. Your paper should not be the same content as the slides but should elaborate upon what you learned. You may use any presentation tool of your choice as long as you can integrate it into a single document with your essay submission.
