My final essay idea will focus on the topic of American literature periods where I will narrow down to the three important periods which I am already familiar with. The first period will be Realism and Naturalism, where I will use two poems from Emily Dickinson as my reference. I will also take a closer look at The Modernist Period by looking at two pieces of literature: Modernist Manifestos and another from Carl Sandburg. In addition to the two periods, I will examine The Contemporary Period by referring jointly to Jack Kerouac’s novel and Leslie Marmon Silko’s piece of literature work. After taking a closer look at the American literature periods, I will further study the style used and the issues addressed within each period, respectively, with respect to what we have already studied.
The list of the literary work selected for my study aims at defining the American literature in relation to time and environment. American literature can be described as ever-changing and time-bound in relation to the environment surrounding it. The American literature characteristic is that it casts the American tradition and has a beam of humor, which is well represented in the piece of writing I intend to use in my study. My selection reaffirms that being an American means that a person is aware of what is happening around and writing about it as a way of addressing it.
NOTE THIS WAS THE ESSAY OUTLINE YOU DID BUT I HAVE CHANGED SOME POEM JUST 2 THE EMILY DICKSON AND MANIFESTO I REPLACED IT WITH WASHINGTON AND DU BOIS.
