C.A.R.S method movement

In a minimum of 1000 words (not including works cited), compare the CARS moves in two academic articles of your choosing. Rather than just describing various characteristics of each article in a disconnected “list,” your goal is to derive a central observation or theme that unites your discussion into a cohesive argument. Your theme should address the question: What do we learn about author strategies in this discipline (or these disciplines, if you are discussing more than one), by comparing how authors try to make their contributions seem valuable and authoritative?

requirements:—Discussion of two articles from academic, peer-reviewed journals (or a chapter in a book)
—Selective paraphrase of enough content from both articles that the reader understands the main point of the research
—Ample quotation to provide examples of the author’s argument and strategy. Don’t just “tell,” “show” us the argument
—Analysis of CARS Moves 1 or 2 (do not have to discuss both) in both articles
—Essay format and Works Cited page should be MLA (google it!)

grading will focus on:
—Quote use (sandwiching). This will be a strong focus of grading.
—Understanding, identification, and analysis of the CARS moves. You do not have to discuss both Moves 1 and 2. It is fine to pick one or the other. I will be looking for quality of discussion, and smart observations, not quantity or comprehensiveness (coverage) of the whole article. It’s better to spend more time fleshing out the details of a few very specific observations, rather than covering a lot of ground for this kind of essay.
—Selective, strategic paraphrase of relevant content from the articles. But not too much. No more paraphrase than what is needed to do CARS analysis.
—How well the essay chooses a central theme and sticks to it throughout the project
—Appropriate condensing of knowledge (repetition avoided, extraneous info avoided, basic concepts not dwelled upon) and expansion of analysis (noticing the key, complex points, and expanding on them where relevant to the paper project).
—Please note that typos and/or grammar errors that distract from the reader’s attention will impact your grade
